Businessman faces extortion charges

The court further ordered him to reside at his given address until his matter is finalised.
The court heard that sometime in December last year, Adams gave Mr Anderson Zvoushe a “soft loan” of $3 000 payable within a month at an interest rate of 35 percent.
Adams remained with his motor vehicle as surety.

On 22 January, the complainant went to Adams’ office with $4 050 to pay off the loan so that he could recover his motor vehicle.
The State is alleging that Adams, taking advantage that he was in possession of the complainant’s vehicle, refused to accept the money and allegedly demanded $12 000 alleging that his interest rate was 250 percent. He further alleged that the complainant had taken a further $9 000 from him in the form of another loan but the complainant

denied that.

The complainant then made a report to the police leading to Adams’ arrest.
Mr Jeremiah Mutsindikwa appeared for the State while Mr Kenneth Lubimbi, of K Lubimbi and Partners defended Adams.
