NOMORE Mapanga, the young businessman who died in Norton on Sunday night when the Lamborghini he was driving overturned, was laid to rest at his rural home in Murehwa yesterday.
Hundreds of mourners, including scores who travelled from Kwekwe and Harare, converged at his rural home to bid him farewell.
Sources said Nomore grew up in Kwekwe before striking it big in Harare before his death at the age of 32.
Among the mourners were football fans, including Hardrock supporters, who said Nomore was a big fan of their team.
Nomore had set his own car dealership in Eastlea, Harare, and was already considered a leading player within the capital’s car dealers’ community.
“He was a rising member of our family as businessmen who buy and sell cars, you guys prefer to call us dealers but we are real businessmen,” said a colleague, who chose not to be identified.
“He started from the bottom but he had focus and within a short space of time he had built his car dealership from scratch into a thriving business.
“He was young but he was focussed and you could tell that he learnt from all the established guys who gave him a chance in this business by asking him to work for them.
“It’s a tragedy and we can only wonder the things he would have done if he had lived longer but that is life, isn’t it, we never know what happens tomorrow.”
Meanwhile, in a suspected case of domestic violence, a Chitungwiza man on Wednesday stabbed and wounded his wife in their matrimonial bedroom following a misunderstanding.
Cashtalk Matambo, 45, of Unit K, allegedly stabbed his wife Lillian Nherera, 42, and she sustained a deep cut on her left side below the jaw.
One of their children, Blessing Matambo, 21, heard the two quarrelling and rushed to his grandmother’s house pleading for help.
Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed the arrest.
“Police arrested a Chitungwiza man for attempted murder charges.
“The complainant, and wife to the accused person, sustained a deep cut and is receiving treatment at Chitungwiza Hospital,” said Insp Chakanza.
