BUSTED WITH BAGS OF GANJA! Masvingo trio Jailed 27 years over ZIG550K dagga

THREE drug dealers who tried to sneak 175kg of dagga across Zimbabwe in the dead of night have been arrested.

Ali Allan Mamudu (55), Khumbo Njima (45), and Limbikan Mwanandi (36) were slapped with a combined 27-year sentence (9 years each) by the Masvingo Magistrates’ Court after being caught red-handed in a massive drug bust that shook the province.

According to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ), the trio was intercepted during a special anti-drug operation in the early hours of 9 March 2025.
“Police received intel that the suspects were using a bus heading to Malawi to transport dagga. The bus broke down at Bulawayo Turnoff, Masvingo. That’s when officers swooped in,” reads the official statement.

Two of the culprits bolted in a VW Polo, ditching their loot and their partner-in-crime. Unfortunately for them, their freedom was short-lived — cops tracked them down in Harare two days later and seized the getaway car.

Inside the abandoned commuter omnibus, police found 17 plastic-wrapped parcels of dagga, weighing 175kg, with a street value of ZIG550 000 or US$22 000.

The magistrate showed no mercy: “You will each serve 9 years in prison. Three years are suspended on condition of good behaviour.”
