Byo bodybuilders ready for Mr/Ms Zim

SIX bodybuilders will represent Bulawayo at the Zimbabwe National Bodybuilding and Fitness Championships to be held in Harare tomorrow.

The Bodyworks Gym trio of defending bikini beach category champion Shantel Greenland, Ms Bulawayo title holder Faith Dube and 2005 Ms Zimbabwe Charity Juma will represent Bulawayo in the women’s categories. Juma is hoping for a successful comeback having last competed in 2005.

Mr Bulawayo junior champion Zibusiso Khumalo of Dynamic Gym, the Iminyela pair of national wheelchair champion Marko Mwale and masters’ category competitor Domingo Lunga complete Team Bulawayo that leaves today for the competition.

Simon Gama, Bulawayo’s provincial coach, said Mr Bulawayo holder Lovemore Munyamana, who is also Mr Zimbabwe lightweight defending champion, and last year’s Mr Zimbabwe heavyweight category second runner-up Themba Lunga have been ruled out of the 2018 edition due to work commitments.

“Last year we took along 13 bodybuilders, but this time around we are going with a six-member team, which I’m confident will bring gold medals. We had to drop some of the bodybuilders because of work commitments, while others are not in good shape. We also lost Selina Manuel and Lorraine Moyo, who moved to Harare and will not be able to join us,” said Gama.

Some of the bodybuilders not in good shape and have been dropped for the national championships are physic category competitors Pardon Dube and Tapiwa Zimhanda, Ms Zimbabwe Novice title holder Kyle McDonald and Bodyworks’ Sinini Nxumalo. – @ZililoR
