adminOrganising secretary Lethukuthula Nkomo confirmed the meeting saying everything was moving according to plan.
“Our meeting, which is also an elective one, will be held on 13 January. Members will choose the new leadership and at the moment I cannot say whether those in office will seek re-election or not,” said Nkomo.
League champions Ah-Sat’s captain Wayne Brandt is the provincial chairman and is likely to be retained if he seeks re-election.
Besides the elections there will also be review reports as well as the treasurer’s report.
Brandt is expected to present his report which is expected to cover basically all the season’s activities.
The province played host to the annual Heroes Holiday Tournament that was held at Falcon College.
While everybody was in unison in terms of the success of the tournament, host province Bulawayo had a dismal showing, failing to win despite having top class players in Brandt, Ndumiso Tshuma and Brian Ndlovu.
The ladies had a better showing with Parkview Kanka’s Nancy Mlambo coming a creditable second, a feat that saw her breaking into the national top 10.
Also expected to be in Brandt’s report will be the Easter Holidays Championships which will be held at Falcon College.
The meeting is expected to adopt the much talked about junior policy as a way of promoting the game among youngsters in order to kill the “pub sport” tag.
Already the National Association of Secondary School Heads (Nash) has introduced darts in schools’ extra-curricular activities with the first tournament held at Cheziya High School in Gokwe last year.
