Byo restaurant destroyed by fire

A popular restaurant located along Lobengula Street between Second and Third Avenue in Bulawayo was tragically burned down in broad daylight, leaving the community in shock.

Owned by Nomthandazo Sibanda and her husband Ndabezinhle Sibanda, who reside in Mpopoma suburb, the establishment was known for attracting a significant number of patrons.

A neighbouring business owner recounted he the fire occured.

“We heard screams coming from the restaurant and when we went to investigate we saw that there was a fire, but we’re not sure what exactly happened,” they said.

“It was quite popular in the city, and we often saw a high volume of traffic coming in to eat there. It’s a big loss for the community.”

The Bulawayo City Council’s fire department is currently investigating the cause of the fire. A source from the department stated, “We are looking into the circumstances surrounding the fire, but initial assessments suggest that there may have been foul play involved in the burning of the restaurant.”

As the investigation unfolds, the community mourns the loss of a beloved dining spot that brought together residents and visitors alike.

The Sibanda family, known for their dedication to quality service and delicious food, now faces the daunting task of coping with the aftermath of this tragic event. Community members are rallying in support of the Sibandas, expressing hope that they may rebuild and reopen their restaurant in the future.
