ARTS organisation, Centre for Talent Development (C.T.D) has received funding from the Citizen Diplomacy Action Fund which will see young people from Bulawayo collaborating on arts and entrepreneurship projects with the sole goal of protecting the environment.
The recipient of the grant is Jobert Ngwenya, who is an alumni of the Fulbright teachers Exchange programme and also the 2023 Integrity Icon winner. He is in Finland for further studies.
C.T.D director Thabani Moyo said they have been identified as the implementing partner in partnership with Mic-Amped USA (New Orleans, Louisiana, USA) with support from Fundi Trust.
“We are delighted to have been granted funding from the Citizen Diplomacy Action Fund (#CDAF) for our #ExchangeAlumni project, Youth Artpreneurship Project. With this ExchangeAlumni & Global Ties U.S. funding, we plan to promote the protection of the environment and build our communities through arts, entrepreneurship and technology.
“We have selected 25 young people with the age range of 18-21 years who will be trained in environmental protection, social entrepreneurship, digital storytelling and performance. The workshops are hybrid. They are physical and online.
“The online workshops are for when we cross over to USA and Finland. We are excited as C.T.D to have been selected to implement the project. I think the advantage is that C.T.D is already working with young people,” said Moyo.
He said the highlight of the project is a talent show that will speak to issues around environmental protection. The 25 selected artists will showcase the works that they will have created in the coming three months. – @mthabisi_mthire
