DEMAND for tickets for Sunday’s highly anticipated CAF Champions League preliminary round match between Scottland and Nsingizini Hotspurs at the National Sports could rise, following the continental football mother body’s decision to restrict capacity to 15 000.
This is part of testing the new systems at the giant facility which has been under renovations.
For the first time since November 2021, the National Sports will on Sunday host an intentional match featuring Zimbabwean champions Scottland and Eswatini football kings Nsingizini Hotspurs.
This follows CAF’S decision to partly homologate the refurbished stadium which was initially constructed in 1987.
It means only 15 000 fans will be allowed inside the National Sports on Sunday.
Given the magnitude of the game and Scottland’s rise in popularity, there could be a scramble for tickets which are selling at $5 rest of ground.
As part of the restrictions, bays 7-8-9-10-11-12-13 will not be available.
Scottland are bracing for a maiden campaign in Africa after winning the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League title on their debut last season.
In achieving that feat, Mabvirarira broke a 41-year-old set by Black Rhinos in 1984.
Scottland warmed up to Sunday’s blockbuster with a 0-0 draw against FC Platinum in a league match at Rufaro on Wednesday.
The defending champions fashioned out several chances but in FC Platinum keeper Manifred Ekoi, they encountered a huge stumbling block.
After the match, Scottland coach Norman Mapeza rallied the nation to support his side.
“This is no longer about Scottland alone, this is now a national issue.
“Scottland are representing Zimbabwe in Africa and they need support from all Zimbabweans,” said the four-time league championship winner.
