Cairns, Muyambo make Zim Open cut

ZIMBABWE’S Ryan Cairns and Nyasha Muyambo have made the cut into the final two days of the 2025 FBC Zimbabwe Open after they both shot second round 73 on Friday.

The duo, who went into the second round leading the Zimbabwean charge on two-under having shot 70 in the first round on Thursday, are now on one-under-par-143 after 36 holes.

Both their rounds comprised four birdies and five bogeys.

“I was very happy with that; it’s not often that you are happy with shooting one-over. My game didn’t feel like it was all there today. I got off to a bad start, I was a couple over early, so I had to fight and grind my way back to finish under-par for the two days. If somebody said to me, at the beginning of the week that I would be under-par after two rounds, I would have taken it,” said Cairns.

He added that he is looking to play aggressive golf on the weekend and try to better his position on the leaderboard.
Muyambo said he will take the result but will change his approach going forward.

“It could have been better, the nerves hit me a little bit on the back nine but I will take the results. I am glad to make it into the final two days. I will change the strategy a little bit going into the weekend, I was a bit too aggressive on some of the par fives so they hit me back. So, i will lay it back tomorrow and not be too aggressive on the par-fives,” he said.

Luis Carrera (through three) has jumped to the top of the leaderboard on eight-under while overnight leader Hennie Otto (finished) shot one-under-par-71 for an overall seven-under-par-138,tied with Martin Rohwer. – @brandon_malvin
