RYAN Cairns made his first cut of the new year on the Sunshine Tour at the Dimension Data Pro-Am at Montagu Country Club in Fancourt, South Africa, over the weekend. The Zimbabwean professional golfer was part of a group of 65 players who went all the way in the third event on the Sunshine Tour season.

Cairns opened with a 70, and then followed it with a 73, which was good enough to take him into the weekend battles.

He closed with an impressive 69 in the third round but, on the final day, shot his worst round of the tourney with a two-over par 72.
Cairns pocketed US$2 434 for his efforts which saw him on tie with six other players.

He will look at this as an improvement after missing the cut in the Joburg Open and the Africa Open in recent weeks.
Four Zimbabwean golfers will be in the pre-qualifiers of the Tswane Open, which tee off this morning.
