The local music industry has been accused of appalling bias by the king of Ndebele rap, Cal_Vin.
Cal_Vin, who missed out on the 2019 Skyz Metro FM Awards (Skymas), believes the local music industry is not fair in terms of award nominations and artiste selection for events.
The Ndebele Rap King singled out the 2019 Skymas nominations that saw him out in the cold, while other artistes that he feels cannot untie his shoes made it.
“I have no idea how the organisers run things, but the only reason they gave was that the people have spoken, they chose whosoever they found fit.
“Local music needs fair play and transparency for Bulawayo music industry to boom,” said Cal_Vin.
Cal_Vin also feels that Bulawayo artistes are disadvantaged as they are made to perform way earlier than Harare and international artistes.
“We have been reduced to curtain raisers,” he said.
Meanwhile, the muso has hinted that a new album is in the pipeline.
“This year, I’m all about securing the bag, I’m going international, with my new album already in the oven baking, and I will be featuring big names like Gasmilla from Ghana among others.
“I will be aiming at working with the likes of Winky D and Jah Prayzah this year as a way of being a multi genre artiste. I’m going big, get on MTV, get on Trace,” said the Luveve boy as he is affectionately known.
