Sinokubonga Nkala
THE Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has announced the appointment of Calisto Pasuwa as the Head of the Interim Technical Panel for the Senior Men’s National Football Team, the Flames. This decision was made during a virtual meeting of the FAM Executive Committee held earlier today.

The Committee ratified the termination of the previous coach’s contract and approved the formation of the new technical panel, which also includes Peter Mponda as First Assistant Coach, Prichard Mwansa as Second Assistant Coach, and Kinnah Phiri and Young Chimodzi as Technical Advisors. The appointments come at a critical time as the Flames prepare for upcoming international engagements.

In addition to the coaching announcement, the Committee resolved to initiate discussions with the Malawi Sports Council and the Ministry of Sports regarding the recruitment of a permanent head coach.

The meeting also addressed governance issues, including equitable funding for regional football associations, and endorsed Dr Patrice Motsepe’s candidacy for the presidency of the Confederation of African Football.
