Women Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Deputy Minister Cde Kiven Mutimbanyoka, has called on citizens to turn out in their numbers for the 46th Independence Anniversary to be held on Saturday at Maphisa Growth Point in Matobo District.

He made a special appeal to women to take a leading role in the commemorations, which he said were historic.

“Independence is not merely a date on the calendar, but a living testament to the courage, sacrifice and unity of our people,” said Cde Mutimbanyoka.

“As we gather in Maphisa this year, we must do so with a deep sense of pride and responsibility. I urge all Zimbabweans, particularly women who are the backbone of our communities, to come out in their numbers and celebrate this important milestone.”

He said the Second Republic, under President Emmerson Mnangagwa, continues to prioritise inclusive development, youth empowerment and infrastructure modernisation in line with Vision 2030.

Cde Mutimbanyoka stressed the importance of youth participation, noting that young people play a pivotal role in preserving the values of independence.

“Our young people must take ownership of this legacy. Independence celebrations provide an opportunity for them to connect with our history, appreciate our heritage and actively participate in shaping the future of our nation,” he said.

He added that Government programmes across various sectors are designed to improve livelihoods and ensure that the gains of independence are felt at the grassroots level.

“As Government, we remain committed to delivering tangible development that uplifts communities. Independence is meaningful when it translates into improved education, better healthcare, job creation and economic empowerment for our people,” he said.

This year’s commemorations will not only serve as a reflection of the country’s liberation history, but also as a rallying point for collective progress as Zimbabwe forges ahead towards the attainment of Vision 2030.
