AFTER weeks on a successful mission on national duty, Dynamos coach Callisto Pasuwa shifts focus to his club with the immediate task of securing progress to the the final of the BancABC Sup8r Cup at Barbourfields on Sunday. DeMbare have a tricky tie against Shabanie Mine. Yesterday, it was back to work for the gaffer who took his team through their paces at training with defender Partson Jaure, who captained the Warriors in Zambia, missing from the session after he received a knock in Ndola.
Other defenders Augustine Mbara, who is still nursing an injury, and Morris Kadzola, who is not reporting for training, were also missing.
Pasuwa said he wants his charges to continue working on improving their conversion ration.
“We now shift to the league. We trained today and most of the players are okay except for Jaure. The team has been training all along and played Black Rhinos at the weekend.
“They trained well but are still lacking in terms of going forward and that is what we will be focussing on this week,” said Pasuwa.
The former Dynamos midfielder said they were concerned about the threat posed by Luke Masomere’s men and they will not underrate the miners.
“For them to be in the semis it shows that they are a good team and are playing well. Remember they booted out Chicken Inn in the first round.
“They have goal poachers such as Norman Maroto and we have to be careful.
“We are not taking them lightly. We are trying to motivate our players, we have to do well in this match.
“Cup games are like money games. It is a game of chances. One mistake and you get punished,” said Pasuwa.
Pasuwa will also be hoping that his players, who haven’t been active, will not struggle to get into the groove at the weekend.
On Saturday, three key players —goalkeeper George Chigova, defender Jaure and midfielder Devon Chafa — started the match in Ndola.
Chigova, who took over from CAPS United goalkeeper Tafadzwa Dube, played like a seasoned national team goalkeeper and was outstanding between the posts.
“It is good that some of the players have been active and shouldn’t have problems.
“It has been our problem that whenever we break the players lose some of their touch and it is one area we have been trying to work on and we hope the rest of the players will be in shape for the crucial game,” he said.
The gaffer also revealed that he was disappointed with the way the Kadzola saga had turned out.
The player and his parent club are locked in a signing-on fee dispute with the DeMbare executive.
The development has seen the former Motor Action defender being withdrawn from training with the Glamour Boys by his manager Calvin Nyazema.
“As a player you have to know that you are the one who will get affected and miss out. Right now he is losing fitness and should have continued to train while they solve the issue,” said Pasuwa.
“What if tomorrow they resolve this issue, will he just walk back into the team and start playing when he has not been training with us?
“It happened with Jeremy Mumbere before he left, he kept training with us waiting for the club to finalise. It has happened to other players as well but they just continued to train.
“This scenario also put me at a disadvantage as the coach as at times l would be forced to work with a small squad because of injuries.
“I remember when the season began, at times we were forced to work with 14 or 16 players.”
