SCOTTLAND have a chance to extend their lead at the top of the Castle Lager Premiership to SIX points when they host FC Platinum at Rufaro on Wednesday.
The champions’ fixture against the platinum miners, who have won both their games under the guidance of South African coach, Thabo Senong, has been broght forward because of their CAF Champions League commitments.
Senong knows that this is his first real test.
Scottland will host Nsingizini Hotspurs of Eswatini at the National Sports Stadium on Sunday.
The Mabvuku side have a three-point lead over Hardrock and Norman Mapeza knows that any drop of points, at this stage of the season, could damage their championship campaign.
The four-time championship-winning coach has had to manage his players’ load, because of the big number of games, and used mainly his fringe players in their Munhumutapa Challenge Cup crushing 6-0 win over MWOS Under-19.
But, with a Champions League game on the horizon, and the club’s leaders also demanding a second league title on the trot, he will have to make some interesting decisions in terms of his players.
Hardrock will have their chance to respond to whatever happens on Wednesday when they take on struggling TelOne in a Midlands derby at the weekend.
Hardrock have emerged as one of the biggest stories of the 2026 season, with Washington Navaya leading the scoring charts and the side refusing to be intimidated by the established order.
The big game, though, is the Harare Derby which will be played on a Saturday, for a change.
This has also been done to accommodate Scottland’s Champions League assignment.
The derby needs little introduction.
It is the fixture that can turn a quiet weekend into a football carnival, with the Green Machine and DeMbare carrying decades of rivalry into every encounter.
For the supporters, it is never simply another league match.
It is about colours, history, bragging rights and the right to rule Harare, even if only for 90 minutes. And, with the PSL campaign moving towards its business end, there is also the small matter of three priceless points.
