PANASHE Mutasa did his father Lloyd a big favour when his goal floored Scottland at Rufaro in the first round of the Castle Lager Premiership.
Panashe struck the only goal in a 1-0 win for TelOne.
Now, his brother Wisdom could derail their father’s hopes of a maiden top-flight league title. Wisdom is now playing for his father’s old club, Dynamos, and has been one of the Glamour Boys’ better players in recent weeks.
DeMbare host MWOS at Rufaro on Sunday.
“Wisdom has warned me to forget about winning this match and he is very excited about this match but obviously I will also be out to prove to him that I’m his father,” said Mutasa.
“It’s a tough game for us because we really need to start winning games to finish the season in a respectable position.
“It’s sad that the outcome of this match might decide Dynamos future and it is not something that we can control for I believe that we are just fulfilling a script which was designed by God.”
If DeMbare lose to MWOS and get relegated for having, at least, one point short of the safety line, it will be because of a man whom the club’s leaders have twice sacked from their payroll.
If Mutasa’s men lose to DeMbare and fall short by a point in the championship matrix, he will blame his son Wisdom, who has been one of DeMbare’s better players in their last three games.
Wisdom will be out to prove that MWOS were wrong to reject him at the start of the season.
He was the Punters’ captain last season when they finished second in the battle for a PSL slot in the ZIFA Northern Region Division One Soccer League.
Dynamos are sitting second from the bottom and MWOS are just two points behind leaders, Simba Bhora, who have 44 points. The Glamour Boys have 16 points to show for their poor season and they will be still stuck in this position even if they win their next two fixtures.
MWOS are making their second trip to the capital. Their first trip ended in a 0-1 defeat at the hands of Yadah at the Heart Stadium.
The two sides know the consequences of failing to record maximum points in Sunday’s game. The visitors are winless in their last four matches and they are hoping to end their poor run against Dynamos who have been donating points this season.
DeMbare have not won a match in their last seven attempts.
They last scored a goal in their 1-0 win against the Miracle Boys, which was their sixth goal of the campaign.
