CAPITALK 100.4FM, Harare’s premier talk radio station, today marks its ninth anniversary, celebrating nearly a decade of impact.

The station sets its sights on deeper digital integration, stronger commercial performance, and expanded national influence.

Capitalk, which runs under the Zimpapers Group’s Broadcasting division, was launched in 2017 and commemorates the milestone under the theme: #9AndFly.

The milestone comes as Zimpapers continues to accelerate its digital transformation journey, a process that has reshaped the group’s operations over the past few years.

From the rollout of high-definition digital broadcasting, to the expansion of online news platforms, podcasts, livestreaming and data-driven content strategies, Zimpapers has shifted significantly from traditional media to a converged, multi-platform ecosystem.

The group has also invested in newsroom digitisation, modern content management systems, and innovative audience engagement tools, with radio, Capitalk included, emerging as a key player in the digital-first thrust.

Zimpapers chief executive Mr William Chikoto said the station’s nine-year journey has demonstrated resilience in a rapidly evolving media space.

“Nine years is a significant milestone that speaks to Capitalk’s resilience, commercial relevance and ability to continuously evolve in a competitive media environment,” he said.

“Over the years, the station has grown into a trusted and influential platform, delivering value to listeners, advertisers and stakeholders, while playing an important role in nation building through information, dialogue, entertainment and the promotion of national development priorities.”

Mr Chikoto said Capitalk’s growth was anchored on aligning creativity, consistency and commercial intent; a combination that has driven audience expansion, brand partnerships and revenue generation.

“The station’s contribution to audience growth, brand partnerships and revenue generation continues to strengthen the group’s media portfolio and reinforces our confidence in its long-term sustainability,” he said.

As Capitalk begins its countdown to the 10th anniversary next year, Mr Chikoto said the group was optimistic of even greater returns and influence.

“We encourage the team to keep pushing boundaries, embracing innovation and aligning strongly with the group’s digital thrust in order to deepen audience engagement, unlock new revenue streams and remain relevant in an increasingly digital media landscape, while flying higher as a commercially agile, socially responsible and future ready radio brand.

“Congratulations to the entire Capitalk team on this proud achievement. We wish you continued growth, stronger performance and sustained success in the years ahead,” he said.
