CAPS United made it TEN goals in TWO matches after crushing Scottland Academy by half-a-dozen goals in this Munhumutapa Challenge Cup match at Baobab yesterday.
Chawanangwa Kaonga was the star of the show for the Green Machine with a hat-trick in their 6-0 win.
Malawian compatriot Lloyd Njaliwa, Junior Bunjira and substitute Davison Marowa scored a goal apiece.
It means the Green Machine have now scored ten goals in their last two matches.
They came into this match after a four-goal thrashing of Highlanders in a league match at Rufaro.
This was always going to be a tough challenge for the Scottland development side, who are in Division Two.
They are under the guidance of former CAPS United defender Danger Fourpence while Green Machine legend Brenna Msiska is the technical director.
CAPS United have a history of suffering humiliating defeats in the country’s flagship knockout tournaments.
They were beaten in the final of the Castle Cup in 1992 and 1993 by Darryn T and Tanganda.
Then, Msiska was part of the Highdon Raylton side which knocked CAPS United out of the ZIFA Unity Cup.
With a number of lower division sides flexing their muscles and eliminating Premiership sides, CAPS United knew they were facing a tricky assignment.
The Scottland academy side trained with their senior side, who are the champions of the Premiership, last week ahead of this fixture.
They were handed a six-goal defeat and yesterday they suffered defeat by the same scoreline.
It was a win CAPS United needed at all cost and they were in control by the break.
With Dynamos, Highlanders and some PSL teams falling by the way side, CAPS United should how fancy their chances of doing well in this tournament.
