CAPS United have declared their intention to go all the way in the Munhumutapa Challenge Cup after being paired against ambitious FC Hunters in the quarter-finals.

Club CEO Morton Dodzo said there were no easy opponents at this stage of the tournament.

There is even a more tantalising prospect of playing Scottland in the final if the league champions also sail through.

Scottland were paired against Bulawayo Chiefs while Hardrock will meet Herentals in the other quarter-final ties.

“We came to the draw expecting to be paired against any team.

“At this stage of the tournament, there are no small teams and there will not be any mismatches.

“We are happy with the draw and we expect the quarter-final fixtures to be exciting and very competitive.”

Makepekepe have endured an inconsistent league campaign but the Munhumutapa Challenge Cup offers them an opportunity to end the season with silverware.

Dodzo said the club’s mission was not limited to reaching the last eight.

“Our task was to progress as far as we could and compete to win the competition,” he said.

“We are happy to have reached this stage, but our mission is to get to the final and win the title.

“This is another opportunity for CAPS United to win a Cup for our supporters, sponsors, investors and all our stakeholders.”

Dodzo believes the fans could make the difference and has challenged the Green Machine faithful to turn out in their numbers.

“It is a privilege for our supporters that the quarter-final will be played in Harare,” said Dodzo.

“We appeal to them to come in their numbers, rally behind the team and give the boys their full support.

“Their presence will make our work easier because we know the impact they have whenever they come out in numbers, even when we are playing away from home.

“We also understand that, as a club, we have an obligation to give them something to celebrate.

“Our target is to win, and this competition gives us a chance to deliver a trophy for everyone associated with CAPS United.”
