CAPS United ……………………..…. (2) 2
Chicken Inn …………………………..… (1) 1
THE venue was the National Sports Stadium and the competition was this time the Castle Lager Premiership but the outcome was the same as happened four days ago at Ascot.
Just four days ago in the Mbada Diamonds Cup, CAPS United and Chicken Inn squared off in a quarter-final tie and CAPS United got their revenge when they won 2-1 in Gweru.
The two sides met again at the National Sports Stadium yesterday and the Green Machine showed that their win in the knockout competition was not a fluke with an identical victory.
Goals from Moses Muchenje and Hardlife Zvirekwi inside the first quarter gave CAPS United the lead while returning striker Tendai Ndoro pulled one back for Chicken Inn who with some luck could have still grabbed a share of the spoils.
The predatory Ndoro shrugged off a challenge from Tawanda Munyanduri before punishing Tafadzwa Dube for coming off his area by slotting a low angled shot.
In another Castle Lager Premiership game played at Rufaro Stadium yesterday Harare City who appear to be fizzling out with each passing game dropped further points when they cantered to their fourth draw in a row after being restricted by Black Mambas.
The teams drew 1-1.
It has not been so rosy for the Sunshine Boys in the league and they are now without a win in their last six matches having last won in July. Harare City who once led the Premiership standings had to come from behind to get their point against Mambas after Nicholas Arufandika thrust the visitors into the lead in the 15th minute when he took advantage of a goalmouth scramble to prod the ball home.
Osbourne Mukuradare then brought them level with the last kick of the first half when he headed home a cross from the left by Tongai Chiworeso.
