CAPS United set early pace

CAPS UNITED are the only team with a perfect start after two rounds of the 2026 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season.

Makepekepe beat Herentals College 1-0 in Week Two. Obriel Chirinda scored the goal that lifted Takesure Chiragwi’s side to the top of the table with six points.

The early table shows CAPS two points ahead of a group that includes Chicken Inn, Dynamos, Ngezi Platinum Stars, Bulawayo Chiefs, Hardrock and Simba Bhora.

Chiragwi welcomed the result but said his team must stay grounded.

“We need to remain level-headed and keep improving with each match,” he said.
“It is still a long race. We will not get carried away.”

Chicken Inn kept pace near the top after beating Triangle United 2-0. Dynamos also remain within reach of the leaders following their 2-2 draw with Highlanders in Harare.

Highlanders have yet to win this season. Bosso opened with a draw against Bulawayo Chiefs before sharing the points again in the clash with Dynamos.

The Bulawayo giants have scored three goals and conceded three in their opening two matches.
Coach Benjani Mwaruwari said the Dynamos game tested his side.

“We managed to score first, but the game was tough,” he said.
“In the second half, we had chances and some good moments. They also asked questions. I saw positives and things we can build on.”

Defending champions Scottland are also still waiting for their first win. They played out a goalless draw with Ngezi Platinum Stars at Rufaro Stadium on Friday night.

Bulawayo Chiefs collected their first victory of the campaign with a 1-0 away win over Agama FC at Wadzanayi Stadium in Shamva.

Chiefs coach John Nyikadzino praised the effort from his players after the result.
“I am very happy with the boys’ performance. They gave everything on the pitch and showed great character,” he said.

“Getting our first three points away from home is important and I am proud of the effort from the team.”
Elsewhere, Hardrock secured a 1-0 win away to ZPC Kariba while FC Platinum beat Manica Diamonds 2-0.

MWOS and TelOne shared the points in a 1-1 draw and Simba Bhora played to a goalless result with FC Hunters.
