The Carpe Diem DJ show, held at the Old Hararians Sports Club, exceeded all expectations, delivering a night of electrifying performances to a record-breaking crowd, undeterred by the biting winter chill.
Party enthusiasts braved the cold, flocking to the open-air venue with cooler boxes, picnic gear and even charcoal heaters to enjoy an unforgettable night of music and dance.
The show featured 12 DJs across Africa, such as Oscar Mbo, Ryan Synth, Morda, Tannie Swiss, Spunj, Samuel Cosmic, Chiweddar, Sun El Musician, Prince Kaybe, St Emmo, Shaku Chante and Halu.
The highlight of the night was undoubtedly DJ Moorda, whose set captivated the audience from start to finish. His performance was so enthralling that the crowd clamoured for more, but his time was cut short as he had to pass the decks to Ryan Synth from Bulawayo.
Synth kept the energy high with a mix of local hits and popular Amapiano tracks, keeping the crowd dancing and engaged.
Moorda’s set was more than just a musical experience; his dynamic dance moves added a visual spectacle that thrilled the audience, making his performance the most talked-about of the night.
However, not all acts managed to connect as successfully with the crowd.
Prince Kaybee’s set, while containing moments of familiarity and crowd-pleasing hits, such as rhumba blasts from the past, generally fell flat and struggled to maintain the high energy set by previous performers.
On the other hand, the Chiweddar brothers, Daniel and David, delivered a mesmerising performance.
They opened their set with Daniel, and he showed off his prowess on the keytar, playing along to David’s beat selection, creating a unique and immersive musical experience.
Their seamless transition and energetic performance brought the party to a climax just after taking over from DJ Spunj, only to be somewhat tempered by Prince Kaybee’s subsequent set.
“It is the best event I have attended so far, hopefully, Jacaranda Music will make this an annual show because sometimes we just need to chill and listen to a variety of music instead of just attending live shows,” said a fan, Ralph Magowa.
The event, managed by organiser Walter Wanyanya and his team, concluded at midnight as scheduled.
Their efficient handling ensured the smooth flow of the night, covering any potential glitches seamlessly.
