AFTER a successful show at the Hartsfield Rugby Grounds in Bulawayo in April, multi-award winning South African hip hop artiste Cassper Nyovest will be returning to the country later this month for a performance at the Shoko Festival in Harare.

He will be joined by house artiste, Bucie of the Easy to Love fame and musical comedian – Deep Fried Man – both from the neighbouring country.

Now in its fifth edition, the urban culture fiesta being held from September 24 to 26 at the Zimbabwe Museum of Human Sciences in Harare and Chitungwiza Community Hall grounds, will see Nyovest performing at the museum’s King Pinn stage on September 25 at 11PM. According to the festival programme, he will perform for 30 minutes.

Bucie will perform on the same stage a day before Nyovest. On September 25, Bulawayo comedian Clive Chigubu will share the stage with Harare’s Doc Vikela and Deep Fried Man.

The festival will feature more performances from Junior Brown, Trae Yung, Shinsoman, Stunner, Souljah Love, Monkeynuts, Shingi Mangoma, Davina Green, Symbiz Sound and DJs T Bass, P Stylez, Raydizz and Smiley among others.

Besides music, the festival, being held under the theme: ‘Hear Your City’, will also have open mic, workshops and spoken word. Breezy, DJ Ire Lion, Innocent, D Block, So Profound, Mutle, Nova (SA) and Deanna Rodger (UK) will be taking care of business on the spoken word side of things, reciting poems.

A Peace in the Hood concert will be held in Chitungwiza on the last day of the festival to promote talent in the high density areas.

“We’ve taken the festival to Chitungwiza as we want to promote talent there and create employment,” said organisers of the festival.
