LEAGUE sponsors Castle Lager have condemned the recent acts of violence and match abandonments that have marred the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League campaign, with the latest incidents occurring at Chahwanda Stadium over the weekend.

The match pitting Hardrock and Dynamos was abandoned following scenes of violence amongst supporters from both teams.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the league sponsors said they were deeply concerned by the disturbances, which reportedly resulted in injuries and disrupted fixtures. Castle Lager said football should remain a unifying force in Zimbabwean society and called on all stakeholders to protect the integrity of the game.

Through its Castle Lager brand, said it strongly condemns all forms of violence and unsportsmanlike behaviour both on and off the field.

The sponsors stressed that the safety of supporters, players, match officials and other stakeholders must remain a top priority. Castle Lager also acknowledged efforts being made by the Premier Soccer League and relevant authorities to investigate the incidents and take disciplinary action.

“As sponsors, we are actively engaging with the PSL leadership on these matters and await the outcomes of the ongoing investigations,” read part of the statement.
