Cat-and-mouse as police crackdown on pirate taxis and errant public transporters in Bulawayo

 Nqobile Tshili, Online Writer

TRAFFIC police in Bulawayo are clamping down on pirate taxis and kombis flouting traffic regulations.

The operation has created a cat-and-mouse situation among the kombi crew, pirate taxis and police officers. Kombi crews have now deserted the city-Luveve Road route where police have mounted a roadblock.

They are now moving in between residential areas as they try to evade the cops. The police are moving in trucks and have blocked the roads in several parts of the city. Some of the kombis have been impounded with passengers being forced to seek alternative transport
