BULILIMA Rural District Council has released $44 000 in the first quarter for funding major outstanding projects within the district’s 22 wards.
Bulilima chief executive officer, Mr John Brown Ncube said the rural district council was yet to decide on the amount that would be released in the second quarter.

HIGHLANDERS members have called for the inclusion of primary elections that will be used to screen candidates vying for posts in the executive whenever there more than two candidates per post.
This, members said, will help the club come up with quality candidates and people of repute.
Speaking soon after the election of Jerry Sibanda as the club’s treasurer and Mgcini Mpofu as vice-chairman, members said it was important to screen candidates.
Seven candidates contested the vice-chairman’s post.

THE Zimbabwe Union of Journalists (ZUJ) has called on journalists to refrain from inciting violence and hate speech ahead of the general elections.
In a communiqué issued at the end of its national council meeting on Saturday, ZUJ acting president Michael Chideme said ZUJ will support journalists that wanted to contest the forthcoming elections as long as they desist from inciting violence through hate speech.

Teachers’ union says no to security sector reforms

PROGRESSIVE Teachers’ Union of Zimbabwe (PTUZ) is opposed to the call for security sector reforms since the country’s security is one of the best in the world, an official has said.
In an interview, PTUZ president Dr Takavafira Zhou said there was no need for security reforms. He said those that were calling for the reforms were misinformed.
