Nash accused of stalling introduction of darts in schools

SCHOOL heads and National Association of Secondary Heads district and provincial chairpersons have been accused of failing to support the development of darts in schools.

The sport’s national leadership wants the sport introduced at schools.

BCC tightens water-shedding period

THE Bulawayo City Council will with effect from Monday increase the water-shedding period to four days a week in all suburbs as water levels in the remaining supply dams continue to dwindle.

For the past two months water has been cut for three days every week.

It was two days when shedding was first introduced at the end of July.

The city’s senior public relations officer, Mrs Nesisa Mpofu confirmed the development yesterday. “Bulawayo City Council wishes to advise residents and stakeholders that it will be introducing a new water-shedding schedule of 96 hours per week as from Monday.

Mixed feelings on death penalty exemption

THERE have been mixed feelings towards this clause among civic organisations and women in general. The Women Coalition of Zimbabwe in its paper on women’s position on the Copac draft constitution explicitly pointed out that this is shocking as it was never one of women’s key demands for inclusion in the constitution and that there is very little justification for making that distinction between sexes with regards to crime. They maintained that equality of sexes must be maintained in all provisions.

THREE workers from Gwanda Provincial Hospital who are also members of the Procurement and Tender Committee, are facing charges of allegedly flouting State Procurement Board tender procedures in the purchase of medical equipment and drugs.
The three accused persons, Maxwell Maphosa (45), Michael Kutsirayi (32) and Grayson Banda (32) have made an initial appearance before Gwanda magistrate Ms Sheila Nazombe.
