The Ministry of Mines and Mining Development has deployed a team of geologists to Sherwood Park to assess the situation following the discovery of alluvial gold in the area, a Cabinet Minister said yesterday.
In a telephone interview yesterday, the Minister of Mines and Mining Development, Dr Obert Mpofu, said a technical team from his ministry was already on the ground and would compile a report that would help address the Sherwood gold discovery.

THE Progressive Teachers’ Union of Zimbabwe (PTUZ) has distanced itself from the agreement reached on Wednesday between the Apex Council and Public Service Minister Lucia Matibenga.
Civil servants representatives and Minister Matibenga agreed that she would by Tuesday next week give them a viable salary offer, failure to which Government workers would stage a one-day strike on Thursday. The Apex Council is the body that represents all civil servants.
