ZESA Holdings is threatening massive loadshedding to companies that refuse to pay a special higher tariff for uninterrupted  electricity supply.
Industry, which is unhappy with the new deal, has warned of a massive shortage of goods on the market or price increases as they employ mechanisms to remain afloat.
The Herald is reliably informed that Zesa informed industry last week that it will be effecting load-shedding of between five to 14 hours on firms that refuse to enter into this new arrangement.
Companies under the special arrangement, which is supposed to be voluntary, pay 13 US cents per kilowatt an hour instead of the current seven cents they are paying.
