A security manager at Catercraft Private Limited, R.G. Mugabe International Airport, Tobias Mapanda, has appeared in court facing charges of criminal insult after allegedly insulting a junior female subordinate at their workplace.

Mapanda (68) was remanded out of custody until January 22 when he appeared before Epworth Circuit Court magistrate Mrs Ethel Chichera. The complainant in this case is Gracious Rutendo Munyaradzi (29), who knows Mapanda as her colleague.

It is the State’s case that on an unknown date and time in October 2025, at Catercraft RGMI Airport, Munyaradzi was performing her security duties in the guard room, accompanied by one Nyasha Utete. The court heard that Munyaradzi was not wearing a company uniform, instead donning a three-piece suit.

It is alleged that Mapanda entered the guard room and confronted Munyaradzi regarding her attire. During the confrontation, Mapanda insulted her, stating, “You are a prostitute; you are looking for men.”

The court heard that Munyaradzi felt humiliated and degraded, prompting her to report the matter to the police, which led to Mapanda’s arrest. The accused acted unlawfully.
