A STEAMY midnight cuddle turned into a painful nightmare for a Mpopoma man who was ambushed by pistol-wielding robbers.

Evans Chimhanda (34) was forced, squealing and begging, to hand over his car after one of the thugs squeezed his private parts until he surrendered the keys.

Chimhanda thought he was in for a romantic night when he drove his Honda Fit to visit his lover, Nomsa Ncube, last Friday at around 11:55PM. He parked just outside her family home in Mpopoma suburb, called her on her phone, and in no time, Nomsa came out in her nightdress.

The couple started kissing and cuddling by the roadside, but the moment turned sour when four masked robbers suddenly appeared out of the shadows.

“They told Nomsa not to scream and grabbed her. Then they turned on Evans. One of them hit him on the back with the butt of a gun and demanded car keys. Evans tried to be brave and refused,” said a family member who spoke on condition of anonymity.

But bravery quickly turned into agony.
“One of the robbers grabbed his private parts and squeezed hard. Evans screamed and immediately gave up the car keys. That was the end of his resistance,” the source added.

The gang jumped into the car and sped off. In the vehicle was US$112.
Evans reported the robbery at Western Commonage Police Station.

Bulawayo deputy police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Thandekile Ndlovu confirmed the incident.
“I would like to confirm that we are investigating a case of armed robbery that occurred at Mpopoma where a man who had visited his lover during the night was robbed of his car and cash,” she said.

She urged anyone with information to assist the police.
Evans could not be reached for comment and Nomsa was unreachable on her mobile phone.
