CCC evicted from offices

THE opposition CCC party has been evicted from its offices in Mabelreign, Harare over failure to settle rental arrears, The Herald has learnt.

The eviction comes despite the party’s members paying contributions and donations, and amid ever increasing allegations of corruption in the party.

This also comes as the democratic facade of the party has now peeled off exposing the grotesque side of candidate imposition and greasing of the party top officials for positions.

The opposition is plagued by an absence of transparency and accountability, coupled with factionalism amid speculation that its leader, Mr Nelson Chamisa, is planning to drown his former deputies as well as the rest of the party’s top brass.

Recently, the party’s interim vice chairperson, Job Sikhala, made startling allegations that he had been betrayed and abandoned by his colleagues and this has since further divided the opposition camp.

Responding to an enquiry by this publication yesterday, CCC’s spokesperson Advocate Fadzai Mahere said the allegations were “inaccurate”.

“That’s wholly inaccurate. We have moved offices to a place more suited to the size and mandate of our party,” she said.

An insider close to the party told The Herald that its rank and file were unhappy with how the party was being run.

“There is disgruntlement in CCC as Chamisa and Ostallos (Gift Siziba) personalise the project, meanwhile the broke party has been evicted from their rented office at 4 Hilmoton in Mabelreign,” said the source.

The eviction has left many in the opposition seething with anger as the party receives donations from its diaspora membership and these are said to have been diverted for personal use by a few party leaders.
