CCC officials in court for political violence

CCC’s Makoni North legislator Patrick Sagandira and three other party supporters have appeared in court on charges of political violence which occurred in Nyazura on Monday.

The four were arrested on Tuesday for the violence that took place after Zanu PF won the Makoni South Ward 23 by-elections.

Police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the violence and the arrests.

He said the four CCC officials attacked Zanu PF supporters who were celebrating their victory.

The suspects appeared in court yesterday and are expected back for bail ruling today.

Three of the eight victims of political violence are at Rusape General Hospital for treatment.

One of the victims said she was beaten badly by Sagandira and Teddy Chipere.

She said as she was being beaten the two told her that President Mnangagwa and other Zanu PF candidates in the area performed well in the August 2023 general elections because of her.
