CCC supporters attack, badly injure Zanu PF members

Herald Reporter

Barely a day after President Mnangagwa called for peaceful elections, CCC supporters unleashed a reign of terror on Zanu PF supporters in Gokwe-Nembudziya yesterday, leaving several of them seriously injured.

The injured were rushed to Gokwe North District Hospital for medical attention.

Sources in Gokwe said Zanu PF supporters were attending a voter registration mobilisation and awareness meeting at Mtora Growth Point, when CCC supporters arrived and started beating up people indiscriminately.

National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi could not be reached for comment last night as his mobile phone was unreachable.

However, there were reports that one person was arrested in connection with the violence and was assisting police with investigations.
