CCC supporters attacked in Glenview, one killed, numerous injured

CCC National Youth Task Force organiser and Glenview council candidate, Mr Womberaiishe Nhende, along with other Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) members, were beaten and injured by alleged supporters of the ruling Zanu PF.

This comes as CCC member, Mr Tinashe Chitsunge, was also killed by Zanu PF members in Glenview South ward 7.

The local Member of Parliament, Honourable Grandmore Hakata, confirmed the incident.

“I can confirm that CCC member Mr. Tinashe Chitsunge was killed by Zanu PF members today while doing door-to-door campaigns in Glenview South.”

In addition, CCC spokesperson Advocate Fadzayi Mahere wrote on her Twitter, “We have received a concerning report that CCC member Tinashe Chitsunge was stoned to death by Zanu PF thugs about an hour ago. The thugs ambushed a group of our youth.”

Some of the injured

Mr Traswell Chikomo, a CCC member, has identified aCourage Kutira as the person who allegedly killed Mr Chitsuge.

Mr Chikomo wrote on his twitter, “[The killer] is Courage Kutira, a Zanu PF youth leader, and was ordered by aspiring Zanu PF Member of Parliament Mr. Fundukwa….”

Mr Chitsunge died a painful death, being stoned by violent Zanu-PF members.

Also, Zanu PF members beat and injured many CCC members. Some CCC members’ legs were broken by Zanu-PF members who were using wood and steel logs, stones, and other dangerous weapons to beat peaceful CCC youth members in Glenview South.

Joseph Bangajena

One of the CCC members Joseph Bangajena who also suffered seriously injured in the violent attacks, had to be taken to Bulawayo for treatment as they feared more attacks if he was to be attended at a hospital close by.

According to CCC supporters Mr Bangajena suffererd numerous injuries during the attack.

“These people were so violent such that Mr Bangajena feared going to the nearby Parirenyatwa hospital hence he was transported to Bulawayo, where he was treated at Mpilo hospital,” said a party source.
