Cde Basopo declared national hero

RETIRED Central Intelligence Organisation director Cde Walter Basopo has been declared a National Hero.

Cde Basopo died on Tuesday in South Africa.

Zanu PF Secretary for Security Cde Lovemore Matuke, who is also the Minister of State Security, announced the national hero status this evening.

He said President Mnangagwa who is also the party’s First Secretary has declared Cde Basopo a national hero.

“President Mnangagwa saw it fit to declare Cde Basopo a national hero after considering his contribution to the country,” said Cde Matuke.

He joined the liberation struggle during his youthful days.
