PRESIDENT Mnangagwa has declared the late Col (Rtd) Tsinga Dube a National Hero Status.
Col (Rtd) Dube died on Thursday evening at Materdei Hospital from kidney failure.
Minister of Defence and State Security, who is also the Zanu-PF Chairperson, Cde Opah Muchinguri-Kashiri delivered the news to the Dube family this Friday afternoon.
“We come with a very heavy heart, deployed by His Excellency to deliver a message of condolence to the family on the very sad loss of our dear brother, a friend, a revolutionary, a strategist who sacrificed his like at a tender age to liberate our dear Zimbabwe.
“Secondly (we are here) to deliver a message from His Excellency, Head of State, President of the Republic of Zimbabwe and First Secretary of Zanu-PF, a message where he is conferring National Hero Status to the late Cde Col Tshinga Judge Dube who died on 3 October 2024. The late Cde Col (Rtd) Dube will be laid to rest at the National Heros Acre in Harare at a date to be announced. This is a national programme and from now on the Ministry of Home Affairs will take over the work, and will work very closely with the family to make all the necessary arrangements which concerns the burial date,” said Cde Muchinguri-Kashiri.
Cde Dube’s family said he had been unwell for the past 10 years and succumbed to kidney failure.
He lives behind several children and his wife Nomathemba. Mourners are gathered at number 168 Shirley Road, Kilarney in Bulawayo.
