Cellphone gives away teen car robber

Crime Reporter
AN 18-year-old Harare man has been arrested for robbing a woman of her vehicle, a Hyundai ix35, at Sam Levy Village in Borrowdale. The teenager was arrested after he started using a Samsung mobile phone belonging to the woman, which he found in the car.

Police confirmed the arrest yesterday saying the boy took photos of himself and his friends using the phone.
They served the pictures in the woman’s Google account to which she had access.

The photos were retrieved from the Google account and circulated on various social media platforms. An alert security guard identified the teenager and informed the police. Police detectives from the Vehicle Theft Squad then went to a house in Eastlea at around 10.30pm where they arrested the teenager.
