Celtic confirm Toure signing

DEFENDER Kolo Toure has reunited with his former manager Brendan Rodgers at Glasgow Celtic, the Scottish club announced on their official Twitter account yesterday.

Rodgers coached Toure at Liverpool last season before being booted out and replaced by Jurgen Klopp, who then considered the Ivorian defender surplus to requirements, subsequently releasing him.

Toure is set to wear jersey number 2 at Celtic and expressed his excitement about the new challenge ahead.

“Firstly, I would like thank every Liverpool supporter. I had a great three years. I left a great club and now I’m joining another great club. Celtic has a great history and it’s a privilege to be able to play for one of the best clubs in the world,” said Toure.

“By joining Brendan Rodgers again, it’s something really special for me. Brendan is a top manager. One of the best. He did a great job at Swansea and Liverpool and I’m sure he will do a great job here,” added the Ivorian defender. — SuperSport
