FORMER Warriors assistant coach Saul Chaminuka is tipped for the post of head coach of Bikita Minerals for the 2024 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season.
Chaminuka is the front-runner for the job at the newly-promoted Bikita Minerals and is set to be confirmed by the end of this week.
He was expected to start his duties on January 1 but the team sponsors only resumed work yesterday after the end of year break.
Bikita Minerals chairman, Mike Mushava, said they have been in touch with Chaminuka adding that he was, however, one of many candidates for the vacant head coach post.
“We were on holiday and we resumed work today (yesterday). We are yet to meet as a board to finalise on the person to take the job. Yes, we interviewed Chaminuka among other coaches and we are yet to make a decision.
“There are other front runners we cannot divulge at the moment as they have commitments with other teams and as such that may jeopardise our negotiations.
“At the moment we are waiting for the right time and we will have the final say once we sit down and see the recommendations from the board. There are still some assessments being done,” said Mushava.
Chaminuka is said to have brought on board his former lieutenant Arnold Jani who he once worked with at Shabanie Mine.
Chaminuka was head coach at Black Rhinos, who were relegated at the end of the 2023 Premier Soccer League season despite him bringing transformation, albeit late to survive the chop after taking over from Stix Mutizwa.
To gain promotion Bikita Minerals were under the guidance of Tongai Heydays Mugeji, who managed to take the lithium miners side to the topflight three years after the team was established.
