MDC-T leader, Nelson Chamisa this week was in Silozi, Matopo district, Matabeleland South, where he attended the burial of an MDC activist who reportedly succumbed to injuries sustained in political clashes.

The party president attended the burial of a party activist in the area, Ms Sithembisile Mlilo who died after violent clashes with supporters of the ruling Zanu-PF party.

Speaking at the burial service, Mr Chamisa called for what he termed genuine dialogue outside the Political Actors Dialogue (POLAD).

“This country can move forward if we have genuine dialogue which is not POLAD, POLAD is not dialogue, POLAD is a choir. We want genuine dialogue of Zimbabweans, those who are respecting one another mutually,” said Mr Chamisa.

According to Ms Mlilo’s relatives, she succumbed to injuries she had sustained during the clashes that occurred in August.

It was alleged that despite numerous reports to the police on the death of Ms Mlilo but they declined to prosecute arguing there was no evidence that she had succumbed to injuries sustained during political clashes.

“As a community we are pained that Ms Mlilo will not get the justice she deserves, we all know what happened to her and can witness but no one wants to listen to us, her crime is exercising her right to association, that is supporting the MDC,” said a party supporter.

Mr Chamisa called for patience and requested authorities to play their legal part, protect citizens and avoid such cases going unsolved, as this causes anxiety within the populace.
