Chamisa cornered: Mashakada

EMBATTLED MDC-Alliance leader Mr Nelson Chamisa and his hangers-on are cornered and have nowhere to run, a top MDC-T official said.

The beleaguered MDC-A now intends to re-brand and rename itself the Citizens Convergence Coalition, but even a change of name will not salvage the sinking ship, MDC-T treasurer Mr Tapiwa Mashakada said.

Writing on his Facebook page, Mr Mashakada, a former close ally of Mr Chamisa, said what led to the split of the MDC last year was failure to respect the rule of law.

“The succession war within MDC-T was resolved by the Supreme Court which ordered an extraordinary congress, which was ignored by the student leaders in MDC-T whereas the trade unionists embraced the Supreme Court judgment.

“They have decided to form a new party called CCC or Citizens Convergence Coalition, a euphemism for Chamisa Chete Chete. We wish them good luck. My brother Nelson missed the opportunity to lead a united MDC by defying the Supreme Court judgment and coming out as an anti-rule of law guy. “
