THE annual Champion of Champions golf tournament tees off at Borrowdale Brooke Park and Country Club today with several top amateur golfers taking to the field.

Most notable will be former Zimbabwe number one ranked amateur David Amm, who is now on a scholarship with Toledo University in the United States.

Amm, who previously won the Chapman Golf Club championship, is back home and will be expected to represent his club well, having played against most of the players whom he will be facing.

The tournament, once one of the major events on the local golf circuit, was back on the radar in 2013 after a lengthy absence and is expected to be a high-profile event.

Champion of Champions was once in the wilderness for over 10 years but the Zimbabwe Golf Association have revived it.

The 36-hole two-day event will see several club champions with Royal Harare represented by Michael Wallace, a top amateur who is currently playing well both locally and internationally.

Hillside of Mutare will have Lookout Paganga as Bindura Golf Club will have Elton Zulu.

Arnold Moyo will make the long trip from Hwange to represent the coal mining town.

The tournament will draw all club champions from over 40 golf clubs in the country, and this year the tournament was restricted to the championship division only.

The battle for the Champion of Champions Zimbabwe titles was organised by the Zimbabwe Golf Association, who will next week host the Zimbabwe amateur championship at Royal Harare.
