CHAPUNGU have declared that their Castle Lager Premier League encounter against Bantu Rovers at Luveve in Bulawayo today is a must-win match. Waru Waru, as the airmen are affectionately known, are still unbeaten since their return to the top-flight and have bagged five points out of a possible nine in their opening three encounters.
Chapungu coach John Nyikadzino said his side had rectified mistakes made by his defence when they were held to a 2-2 draw by How Mine at Ascot.
“We had a good start to the season but we almost blew it last weekend when we came back from behind to force a draw against How Mine.
“We failed to capitalise on our home advantage. However, we have rectified the mistakes we made in the last game and we will field our best side,” said Nyikadzino.
Nyikadzino said they wanted nothing short of three points.
“Our game against Bantu Rovers is a must win. We have to secure those three points if we really want to remain in the top-flight.
“We now need to start collecting maximum points in all our games,” he said.
However, Bantu Rovers have vowed to hand Waru Waru their first defeat of the season.
Bantu assistant coach, Mandla Mpofu, said his charges had fully recovered from the nightmare of a six-minute goal blitz which saw them lose 1-3 against Dynamos.
“Chapungu, like us, are coming from Division One and we have equal chances of winning the match.
“We are going to fight like a wounded beast after we lost 1-3 to Dynamos. We have put the nightmare behind us and everyone is focused on tomorrow’s (today) match,” he said.
Bantu Rovers have lost two of their three Castle Lager Premier Soccer League matches.
