AIRMEN, Chapungu, will hold their end of season awards ceremony awards at Sunset Gardens in Gweru this afternoon.

Club director, Air Commodore Elisha Masakadza, is expected to grace the occasion where six categories have been lined up.

The Player of the Year, Players’ player of the Year, Most Disciplined Player and Golden Glove Award will be up for grabs together with the Golden Boot Award whose recipient is an open secret.

Allen Tavarwisa’s five goals will earn him the top goal scorer award.

The pair of Ian Nyoni and former FC Platinum winger, Blessing Sahondo are favourites to earn the top gong after producing some all-round performances this season.

Talbert Shumba’s seven games clean sheet could earn him the club’s best player accolade but will face stiff competition from Roy Mazingi who had consistent performances all season.

Apart from the players there will be appreciation awards to various partners  among them the club supporters.

Chapungu public relations manager, Tawanda Zowa, said the awards ceremony is a way to appreciate their partners for their input during the just ended season.

“We are holding our awards ceremony tomorrow where we will honour our players as well as our partners for the efforts they have put this season. We are happy with the way things panned out this year despite missing some of our targets,” said Zowa.

He said the club is now looking forward to next season where they expect to do better than what they did this season.

“Waru Waru” had an indifferent start to the season after going for seven games without a win which left them in the murky waters of relegation.
However, the club, under the tutelage of Tendai Chikuni who joined the team during the off season, negotiated their way to safety before ending the season

on 11th position with 44 points.

The airmen were just two points shy of the top eight finish which they had set themselves at the end of the season.
