THE Charleston Trust Primary School 5km Fun Run was successfully held on Saturday morning, attracting scores of participants from Nkulumane and surrounding suburbs in a vibrant celebration of health, fitness and community spirit.

Held under the theme “Health Awareness,” the event brought together families, athletes, social runners, fitness enthusiasts and community members who participated in the 5km fun run, which started and finished at Charleston Trust Primary School in Nkulumane 10.

Participants followed the designated route through sections of Nkulumane, passing landmarks including Nketa High School, Nketa 8 Shopping Centre and Munyoro Shopping Centre before returning to the school.

Beyond the run itself, attendees benefited from free blood pressure and blood sugar screenings, while a lively Zumba session, led by Fitness Squad trainers, added excitement to the morning’s activities.

The event also highlighted the importance of raising awareness about major health conditions such as cancer, heart disease, diabetes, hypertension and mental health.

Organisers expressed their gratitude to all participants, sponsors, volunteers and partners who contributed to the success of the inaugural event.

They described the impressive turnout as a clear indication of the community’s growing commitment to healthy living and pledged to make the Charleston Trust Marathon an annual fixture on Bulawayo’s sporting and wellness calendar.

The successful event reinforced its message of promoting active lifestyles and community wellness, with organisers thanking everyone who answered the call to “Run for health. Run for life. Run together.”
