The late President Robert Gabriel Mugabe’s son Bellarmine Chatunga walked out of court a free man after charges of possession of dangerous drugs (mbanje) levelled against him were withdrawn by the State during vetting process.
His friend Max Mugaba has since appeared in court before Harare magistrate Tapiwa Kuhudzai facing the above charges and the matter has been stood down to 2:15 Friday afternoon.
Mugabe’s lawyer Simbarashe Mukwekwezeka said his client picked his friend Mugaba along the way to get his hair cut unknowingly that his friend had 72 grammes of mbanje in his bag.
The lawyer said they were stopped by the police officers who had discovered that the pair were driving an unregistered vehicle.
Mukwekwezeka said the police conducted a search in the vehicle and discovered the drugs in Mugaba’s bag.
