Chawatama new Harare director of works

HARARE City Council has appointed Mr Zvenyika Chawatama as its new director of works after the Local Government Board approved his engagement.

According to recent minutes of the council’s human resources and general purposes committee, out of the three candidates shortlisted for interview by the Local Government Board, Mr Chawatama was recommended for the position.

“The Acting Town Clerk, Mrs Josephine Ncube, reported that the three candidates who had been recommended for interview by the Local Government Board had attended the interview for the position of director of works in the City of Harare,” read the minutes.

“On the 7th October 2017, the Local Government Board had approved, under its Resolution No. LBG 30/17, the appointment of candidate named above to the position of director of works in the City of Harare with effect from date of assumption of duty.”

Council dismissed 50 internal applications for candidates vying for the position for lacking the requisite qualifications and maturity needed for the position. Council had been hunting for a replacement of Engineer Phillip Pfukwa. who retired from council service last month.
