DYNAMOS have kept the gate charges for the Battle of Zimbabwe at US$3, which will be the cheapest ticket fans have paid for the match in a decade − and it makes a lot of sense.
The Glamour Boys, with just one win in their opening 14 league matches, have lost the golden appeal which used to attract thousands of fans to their matches whether they were home and away.
On average now, when DeMbare are not playing the Derby or the Battle of Zimbabwe, or playing the newboys who have rocked the Premiership, it’s difficult for them to attract 3,000 fans.
Although Bosso’s arrival means there is a likelihood that more fans will pay to watch this match, the calls by DeMbare fans for another boycott of the game means that the club’s officials cannot take any chances with a hike of the gate charges.
On Sunday, the calls for the boycott of the Derby resulted in the flagship battle attracting its lowest number of fans in decades.
The Dynamos leadership have agreed to peg the cheapest ticket at US$3.
The Upper Grand Stand will cost US$5 and the VIP area has been pegged at US$20.
This also shows that Dynamos have an appreciation that they have surrendered their status as a star attraction to newboys like MWOS, Scottland and Simba Bhora.
DeMbare are just two points above Kwekwe United who are at the bottom of the league table.
MWOS, a club which is making its Castle Lager Premiership debut this season, are selling pre-printed tickets which have been made available to everyone interested ahead of their crunch fixture against Scottland on Saturday.
It’s something that Dynamos have failed to implement and sources have indicated that it’s deliberately done to ensure that the chaos at the gates creates a platform for the looting of some of the money which the fans pay.
MWOS have pegged the cheapest ticket at US$5.
“The Premier Soccer League (PSL) would like to inform all stakeholders that the Castle Lager PSL Matchday 14Norton will only sell pre-printed advance tickets which have been allocated to both teams for their stakeholders.
“The secure tickets will be backed by QR coded verification mechanisms linked to a central ticketing server system.
“No tickets will be sold at the stadium on this Matchday.“Fans are encouraged to purchase these limited tickets early,” reads the PSL press statement.
