A cheating husband struck his wife with a brick in the face and assaulted her using a wooden stool and a metal pipe after she caught him sleeping with a girlfriend in their matrimonial bedroom, acourt heard yesterday.
Tichaona Banda (39) was charged with physical abuse when he appeared before magistrate Mr Tendai Mahwe.
Banda pleaded not guilty to the charge saying it was him that was attacked by his wife, Enerty Ngani.
Mr Mahwe granted Banda $50 bail and ordered him to come back to court on April 19.
Allegations are that on March 31 at around 3pm at Fife Avenue in Harare, Banda told Ngani to go and collect their children in the rural areas since they had a misunderstanding.
It is alleged that upon returning from the rural areas on April 1, at around 1am, Ngani found her clothes outside their matrimonial home.
The court heard that when she entered the house, she caught Banda sleeping with another woman in their bedroom.
Banda allegedly sprang from the bed and started assaulting Ngani.
A report was made to the police leading to Banda’s arrest.
